Being a mother is a tough job while pursuing higher education while homeschooling four children. I now understand when the elders in the family would say,” If you go to school before you have children, everything else is easy” (Laugh out loud). I wouldn’t say to myself that it might be easier like I just need some quality time to myself. While living in San Antonio, I found one of the most luxurious wellness hot spots thus far. After researching the place, I found an ad on Instagram and decided to try it.

When I arrived at the Thompson Hotel in downtown San Antonio, Texas, I was greeted by two gentlemen holding the doors open for me with smiles on their faces. As I walked into the hotel, the place smelled like fresh linen but on another planet. The art on every wall was unique and elegant. The staff was culturally diverse and well-mannered. I immediately felt comfortable and knew I was where I needed to be. All the light fixtures were dim, setting a safe, warm vibe of classiness.

While on the elevator, I asked a staff member how they liked working there. He replied with a smile on his face while holding a huge silver tray “I love it here”. Hearing how happy the young man was, I knew this would be one of those experiences that impacted me. Now I’m waiting in the elevator all by myself, patiently waiting to reach the 20th floor.  It hits me out of nowhere; it’s 8:00 am in the morning, and I’m about to practice yoga while the sun rises.  I miss my children at this point and realize I don’t get out much and I better soak this all in. As I got off the elevator, my heart was racing as I was approached by a woman with a black iPad asking me my name. She then acknowledged me and welcomed me onto the rooftop.

The music is lovely, and everyone is so kind. I was given a white towel and asked to lay my mat anywhere I chose. As I settled in, I also set up my camera equipment because I’m a content creator and love sharing my lifestyle on social media. The yoga instructor was kind and knew how to approach everyone in a light-friendly way. It was also a plus that the gentleman was African American. I feel more comfortable in spaces that are elevated and show representation. I knew we were going to heal our hearts and minds while the sun beams down on us. The practice didn’t seem complicated, but after one full hour directly under the sun, I was beat (laugh out loud).

After the practice, I was greeted inside for morning health samples from various health and wellness vendors and unlimited morning champagne cocktails. I couldn’t stop smiling. I was so happy that I chose to love myself and step out of my comfort zone. I even met some chic, like-minded people who made me feel seen and valued. I took many photos while enjoying champagne and listening to trendy music. This experience was everything that I needed to continue to push through with motherhood and my personal goals.

Suppose you’re looking for a high-quality experience in San Antonio Texas that is affordable friendly and culturally diverse. Make sure to check out all the amazing events hosted on a regular on the Thompson Hotel website.
