By the time I stepped into SAAACAM’s Legacy & Libations, the evening was already unfolding—conversations flowing, glasses clinking, and stories moving quietly through the room. What I missed in minutes, I gained in perspective. The evening energy was vibrant, intentional, and deeply rooted in something bigger than the event itself.
Held in celebration of Women’s History Month, the gathering brought together community members, historians and cultural storytellers in a space dedicated to preserving and reclaiming Black history in San Antonio. Even with my late arrival, it was clear—this wasn’t just a social event. It was a living archive.
With camera in hand, I moved through the space capturing what remained: the in-between moments, the quiet exchanges and the feeling of a room still holding onto its stories.
